2020 will go down in the history books as a year to remember for many years to come.
Over the past year it goes without saying that Scouting in Central Notts hasn't been the same, however one constant has been that our young people across the District have continued to gain Skills for Life, albeit slightly differently to usual.
2020 has seen a number of events take place despite face-to-face Scouting being suspended, and as the year draws to a close, we thought it would be a great opportunity to reflect on what has been another successful year at Central Notts.
#TheGreatIndoors - March saw the launch of our daily #GreatIndoors Challenges, which provided a daily activity for our young people, allowing them to continue working towards their badges from the safety of their own homes. By August, when Scouting started to make a return a total of 148 daily activities had been posted online.
St George's Day 2020 - Central Notts Scouts and Girlguiding Nottinghamshire came together in April to mark and renew their promises for St Georges Day 2020. Following the event, the video was viewed over 1500 times!
On the 23rd April, members of the District took part in the #ScoutClapForCarers, which saw members standing on their doorsteps in Uniform at 8pm to say thankyou to our nations Key Workers whilst also marking St Georges Day.
Central Notts Online Quizzes - Following the success of the first Quiz, May saw the second Central Notts Online Quiz take place. Following this quiz, each month an online Quiz was run during the months of the first national Lockdown.
Central Notts Online District Activity Day - Our online District Activity Day in June saw members of the District come together virtually, to enjoy a day of fun filled activities which had been provided and recorded by numerous leaders from the District. The Activity day was brought to a close with an online Campfire, allowing the district to sing all together.
Central Notts Remembers - As national restrictions curtailed any planned services of Remembrance, the District team joined up with 3rd Woodthorpe Scout Group to stream their Annual Service of Remembrance, allowing members to reflect on such a key date in the Scouting Calendar.
In addition to this, on Remembrance Sunday the District stood on their doorsteps in their uniforms, once again to mark Remembrance Sunday with their #DoorstepRemembrance
A Central Notts Christmas - It certainly was a Central Notts Christmas with numerous competitions taking place, with festive quizzes for both Adult Volunteers and young people alike. Even Santa wanted to join us, and did to read a festive story to our young members just days before heading out on his sleigh.
As you can see whilst 2020 has been a challenging year, we are sure you will agree that Central Notts have done a fantastic job in 2020! As we move into 2021, there is more to come and the District Team are already planning for some events, so keep your eyes peeled.
Finally we hope everyone has a safe and fun New Year where ever you are and whatever you do!
