A successful year for Joshua!

One Calverton Cub Scout has had an extremely busy year over lockdown, completing a number of activity badges, completing Blue Peter's Six badges of Summer, and fundraising for a National Charity all at the same time!

Joshua, who has been supported by his mum Anne-Marie, completed 7 of his Cub Scout badges during the first lockdown. Alongside gaining his International, DIY and DIY plus badges, Joshua also took photos to create a time-lapse showing the changing of the season, which saw him gain his Naturalist badge, whilst learning about 10 different road signs which counted towards his Road Safety badge. Joshua also learnt how to play 'We Will Rock You' and performed the song gaining his musicians badge.

If gaining Cub Scout Activity badges wasn't enough between June and July Joshua completed and has been awarded all of Blue Peter's 6 badges of Summer. Originally receiving the standard white badge for bravery at just 4 years old for phoning 999 following an accident, Joshua now proudly holds a Climate Hero Badge (Green), a Fan Club badge (Purple), a Music badge, a Sport Badge and the Blue Peter Silver Badge for which you must have at least one of the other Blue Peter badges to qualify.

More recently Joshua has been sleeping outside for the past month as part of a fundraising campaign to raise crucial funds for homeless veterans during the coronavirus pandemic.

Joshua has been taking part Royal British Legion Industries’ Great Tommy Sleep Out which saw participants brave the cold for a night this March in aid of the roughly 6,000 military veterans living on the streets in the UK, he is currently on 29 nights and has so far managed to raise over £3070!

Joshua said: "Mum told me about this late into March (23rd) but I jumped at the chance to sleep out & raise money for a great cause at the same time. I set myself the challenge of 7 nights & a £300 target, that was reached in 2 days! With support from friends & family my total was going up & up so I've decided to stay out & do as many nights as I can until the charity page closes down in June, after all the homeless don't get to choose when they go inside! I'm on night 29 with a total so far of £3070."
