Today we would like to recognise a stalwart of our District, as John celebrates his 90th Birthday today!
John has been involved with the Scouts for most of his life but has been a leader since 1958. At a time when those above the age of 70 are considered vulnerable some would take a back seat and not consider others, but be over cautious and consider self preservation - Not John, as he is still actively involved in scouting and currently holds the post of District Scout Active support manager and within the guidelines issued by the scout association, does everything within his power to fulfil his role.
Unfortunately his celebrations unfortunately have had to be curtailed, but his resolve to be as active as his health allows is paramount. His example to the Young People he has contact with is is phenomenal. In 2008, he was awarded the 50 year service award and the silver acorn in 2011 which is the second highest adult award given by The Scout Association.
From everyone within Central Notts we would like to wish John a very happy 90th birthday and thank him for all he has done and continues to do.
